Hence, all TUSTEM events aim to provide a platform where Japanese and international students can easily interact. July 20, 2023, we welcomed students from National Chiayi Senior High School in Taiwan to Tohoku University. Their visit was a part of the educational program of Minamisanriku town which was severely damaged by the 2011 East Japan Great Earthquake. Since then, Minamisanriku has fostered a strong connection with Taiwan which has been supporting the recovery since the disaster. With COVID travel restrictions finally coming to an end, the Tohoku University STEM Summer Program (TSSP) was once again held in Sendai after an absence of 4 years. 24 students from partner universities across the globe traveled to Japan for the 4-week intensive program focusing on science as well as the unique culture of the Tohoku region.
